Over 150,000 People Signed Our Petition

Over 150,000 people have signed our petition on Change.org demanding Goodwill pay their employees with disabilities minimum wage. You were one of those people, and for that we want to say--thank you!

People with disabilities deserve to be paid a fair wage, but due to section 14c of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), many are left in segregated settings being paid as little as pennies on the dollar. Now, all across the country, people are standing up and saying that this is unacceptable.

Public pressure is mounting, and Goodwill cannot ignore it forever. There are three ways to keep up the heat--and you can help!

Share the Change.org petition with your friends and family.

Call your US Representative and ask them to become a co-sponsor on HR 831, the Fair Wages for Workers with Disabilities Act of 2013. HR 831 will repeal 14c of FLSA completely--no longer could workers with disabilities be legally discriminated against in the workplace!

Volunteer to deliver copies of the petition to your local Goodwill. Let them know this is not going away and that their business practices are unacceptable! If you’d like to volunteer to deliver a copy of the petition to a local Goodwill, email Elizabeth Synclair at esynclair@autisticadvocacy.org for some simple instructions.

You have spoken--make Goodwill listen! Stay with us in the fight against wage discrimination and help us end Goodwill’s unethical practices for good!
