Hearing Loss: 1.3 million under the age of 3

According to The Center for Hearing and Communication approximately 12% of the U.S. population or 38 million Americans have a significant hearing loss. A person with a hearing impairment cannot hear or understand the sounds of speech used for communication in everyday life. Most sounds are unable to be heard by profoundly deaf people. For a person who is hard-of hearing, certain speech sounds are difficult for them to understand. The CHC also shares the fact that approximately 3 million children in the United States are living with a hearing loss with 1.3 million of those affected being under the age of three.

“Many of life’s failures are people who did not realize how close they were to success when they gave up.”
